Gitta Veldt is an assistant professor in the Civil Law department and a member of the Empirical Legal Studies team in Leiden. She is a well-known expert in product liability. She wrote her dissertation on European product safety law and European standardization and its meaning in contract, tort law and product liability. She is currently involved in empirical legal studies regarding compliance and enforcement of product safety law in supply chains and e-commerce, and the role of private law in that regard and she is an editor of an Elgar-monograph regarding Empirics and consumer law in changing markets.
